Default Gear options?

Hey im trying to decide whether to go with a 3.7 or 4.10 gears what I want to know now is the the rpms you guys are turning at 3.70 and 4.10

What is your rpm and mph for the following:
1. When do you enter 2nd gear at what mph?
2. How many rpms are you turning at 70mph in 6th gear
3. What seems to be your max speed

Say what gears you have and see if you can answer those questions. Thanks this is going on a 98 m6 trans am btw

I would say check the Gears & Axels topic on here. There is a sticky that explains them. The higher you go the worse your gas milage will be because your at higher RPMs.

I have 4.11's in a 12 bolt. You will lose about 2mpg city and highway. I turn about 1900rpm going 70mph in 6th if I recall correct. I know in states where the speed limit is 70, I set my cruise on 78mph and it sits at 2100rpm and I average 25mpg. It is worth it to me, it felt like a whole new animal compared to 3.42's. I wouldn't waste money on putting them in a 10 bolt.

Play with this calculator. It'll help you decide which gears are best for you.
