Default Finding previous owner?

I bought my SS back in July of 2004 and the dealership would not give out the previous owner's information. Is there a way to find who the previous owner of your car was?

Thanks

I can understand people not wanting dealerships to give out information. When my dad traded his SS in, the new owner called us asking if we had the window sticker and etc.. He didn't mind him calling, actually he was glad to see a good owner bought it. Just wondering how he obtained my dad's information or if the dealership gave it to him.

Try this. I know in PA when you obtain the title the previous owners name is on it. When I bought the TA I obtained the title right away because I paid for it not the bank or GM therefore I have the original title with the previous owners name on it along with his address. I knew him before I even bought the car but thats not the point, the point is if you are going to have the title see if its on it, if your bank has it, see if you can get the info from them, just tell them you bought it off the guy and forgot his name. LOL Try that.

In most states you can pay DMV for a title search. It's names and cities where the vehicle was registered only usually. But that should be more than enough to find the owner.

The dealer also might not have wanted to tell you the name because it might have been an out of state auctiuon vehicle.

Ask your salesperson to give your name & phone number to the previous owner and to please ask to call you as you love the car but have some questions (not rants) that the former owner could answer for you.

This has worked for me a couple of times even while shopping.
