What kind of hp gain should I expect from installing hooker shorties on my 2000 Z28? Mods are listed in sig. No motor work yet..

not much, but its a waste of money to install shorties into an LS1. Do you have a certain combination setup in mind. If not always go with long tubes.

must be a kicking yourself in the head for that Graneteli MAF

cause the stock MAF can hold up to 550RWHP with no probs and is great

If I were you I would keep saving up and get some lt's. They are better for an LS1 and when you get around to your intake and cam then you will appreciate them more and more.

Well I still have my ported stocker so no biggie..

Just bought the headers for a damn good price and they're being installed today.. I guess I should have done my research first but oh well. Shorties should be alright for a short while till I save for heads/cam..

Go LT's or go home. Gonna be chokeing the motor if you do go heads/cam while still running shorties. But thats what this site is for, learning more so you can make the right decision in the future.

Why didn't you ask this BEFORE you bought them?

good choice. the manifolds on these cars actually flow pretty well. pacesetters are the way to go for headers, they are basically a direct copy of hookers at a much better price.

All headers are within a couple of RWHP to each other.

pacesetter/hooker are the best way to go. I bought XS stainless headers and they dont line up worth a ****. I had to drill 5 of the holes bigger to make them line up and the driver side collector hits the floor pan. Glad to hear you didnt install the shorties

on a side note, and not to rob the thread but what ideal size headers for a good sounding/flowing exhaust, also do I have to buy a catted y-pipe or can I take my cats off and add them to an uncatted y pipe. And last question is which aftermarket y pipe best compliments pacsetter LT's.

Not to rob the OP's post but it also might be some questions the OP might want to answer
