Default kill switch

i wanna install a kill switch on my car, because alot of f-bodys are getting stolen here in louisiana. I was wondering if i could just put in a switch on either the ground or hot wire on the starter. any help would be greatly appriciated.

VATTS already disables the fuel pump and there are only two ways around VATTS.

1: Have a dishonest friend at a GM dealer that will cut you a key off a VIN for a car that is not yours.

2: A Tow truck

I've seen people put smallplates over the vin plate in the window to foil the 1st, you can't do anything about the 2nd.

you could wire it to the starter or just do it directly to the ignition either will work. But I gotta tell you that I used to work with someone who grew up with a car theif thats in jail now and he pretty much said that if they now what there doin and want your car there goin to get it. Those kill switches are the oldest trick in the book pretty much so make sure you find a good hiding spot for it. It would be pointless to just stick it under the dash b/c thats the first place they will look for it.

And by the way I didnt mean to be come across as a dick in my post. Im just sayin that it will stop a 16-17 year old from stealin your car but for a professional it will only slow them down a little. All you really gotta do though is put an on/off switch into the power line you want it to cut off, and when you cut the switch it will cut power to that. fairly simple, I just recommend finding a really good place to hind the switch like on the inside of the glove compartment somewhere or somethin like that.

There's gotta be better ways to disable your car than this...or more effective ways. Is there anything under the hood that you can just disconnect that would be hard to spot. Like if you had to go somewhere and had to park it somewhere you weren't comfortable with...

I know the fuel pump and I think the ignition system have a relay under the hood it would be a PITA to take out every time and would probally be pretty hard to spot (but if they did theres like 6 of the same relays right next to it so they can just switch one of the other ones) or I think there is a fuse for the fuel pump that would be a little easier to pull everytime. But both of these wont help if they have a tow truck or if its a professional thief that knows what hes doing. Now it will def. help if some stupid kid tries to take it.

What it comes down to is that if someone wants your car bad enough they will get it so the best thing you can do is make sure you have proper insurance to cover the car. I know most companies you can add value to the car for mods but obviously your overall insurance will go up.

Yea, which fuse would be most effective? There's a decent example. Yea, I don't see us being able to stop a tow truck if they really want it that bad. You'd have to be parked weird er something.

I thought about getting a chain and bolting the axles down to something(house, car, ground?). Even a tow truck couldent get that without being noticed. lol.

A tow truck can't get my car, its in the garage. So if you really think about it, it wouldn't be too easy for a thief to get to either. Either way I have an uber alarm system.

Does your garage have windows? I know a local DJ on the radio that got his taken out of his garage. It was a brand new Z/28 given to him from a dealer. If you have windows in your garage you can easily get the garage door open by releasing it from the track or chain.
