Default How do you ship an engine block?

I set up a shipment by using an online freight company and I'm scheduled to drop it off tomorrow at Fed Ex.
They weren't very specific on how to 'package' it up. They did say it needs to be covered.
I remember a job I had , used to get big pumps and stuff come in that were just bolted to a pallet and wrapped with plastic, my friend said he used to ship stuff out at his work like that too.
Is that what I should do? Just wrap it, bolt it to a pallet and go?
I went dumpster diving and got a good pallet and some steel angle.
Anyone KNOW what the requirements are?
FWIW it's going from FL to CA.

That's how I'd do it. Just secure it to a skid and wrap it.

See if FedEx lists any freight shipping requirements on their website.

Pretty easy, free pallet, had to cut to size, free angle steel, $8 for stretch wrap from walmart, $35 worth of gas to drive to the shipper in my truck.
Next time I do this I'll have it ready BEFORE getting a quote because my pallet was way smaller than they estimated.
Way easier than I thought.
Thanks.

Throw that mother on a pallet and either shrink wrap it or use some banding straps and send it down the pike

$197
It was a '69 396 bare block, I weighed it as 190 pounds and the freight company estimated the crating at 50 pounds so we agreed at 250 pounds. The buyer payed shipping anyway.
