Ls6 intake...cam if you got the money..

venomhp 01-29-2008 10:01 PM

I might be different from most, but I would rather have performance and actually go really fast and still look pretty good, than look fuckin awesome and not live up to the hype...I dunno maybe its the anti ricer in me talkin...

I would go with the ls6 intake, tune, and whatever is left use it to start saving for something else

408zo6 01-29-2008 10:04 PM

i did but didnt have to pay for the tune... if it was tuned before some shops will do it the 2 time free or like $100

Jakester136 01-29-2008 10:09 PM

well I dont really think I know enough to install the cam by myself......and I dont have any friends who know how......so im pretty much screwed with labor costs. Im worried enough about trying to install the headers by myself

venomhp 01-29-2008 10:13 PM

headers are no big deal at all man, just a pain to put in sometimes...and make sure that your exhaust is where it needs to be for the collector.

Jakester136 01-29-2008 10:18 PM

well I plan on getting the headers on then bringing it to a friend who's going to make me a custom y and run 3'' to the axle with two flowmasters dumped at the axle. he said he would hook me up for about $180. Ill be starting on the headers next week...but If I can get my cam done for $1000 or less I will. im waiting on a local shop to call me back and give me a total price of cam+install.

Sunset'01Z 01-29-2008 10:24 PM

ls6 intake, lid, pptb, finish exhaust and a tune. any extra spent on a tune up/maintenence if needed.

bu01 01-29-2008 10:44 PM

headers ory cat-back exhaust

venomhp 01-30-2008 04:00 AM

either way if you get a cam you should definately get a tune asap

waldershrek 01-30-2008 04:41 AM

Where are you located? Some of the sponsor shops have great deals on install packages for a cam.

FLA02TA 01-30-2008 08:07 AM

If it's an A4, I'd say stall it. Otherwise, suspension.

plaf713 01-30-2008 08:12 AM

headers, ls6 intake and dynotune is what i would do

streetassasin 01-30-2008 08:13 AM

nitrous and drag radials
If you buy new your lookin at $330 for some nittos and $350ish for a wet kit, add a heater, purge and window switch and thers your grand :thumb: and have fun running bottom 12's at 115+mph

Here is some advice you may never here on this board...

Take that $1000 and invest it in a long term capital gain mutual fund like MCHFX (Matthews China, my personal cash cow). In 20 years who knows what it could be worth. It'll be way more than $1,000 though I can tell you that much!

The smartest thing I ever did was invest and learn about saving money.

Trust me, I am sure that $1,000 was hard to earn, but so easy to spend. Once you mod and you get the bug, that $1000 will turn into 10 gaurenteed.

Don't ask me how I know! Invest 10%-20% of your income, and splurge the rest on the car! Best of both worlds.

I second that

Depends on your goals. If you eventually want to do a H/C package, then just save up until you can afford it or get an intake and boxed sub frame conectors. What to get a stall until you know what cam you want. The key to moding your car is too only do things once and have a solid plan. Don't do a cam if you are going to do heads because the shop doing the H/C install won't charge as much if you do it all at the same time. Also, you will want to pick your heads and cam at the same time.
