What to buy with $1000

I have $1000 left to mod my car right now. So far i have headers, billet grill, black stripes. What do I get??? SS hood, Rims, Cam, ls6 intake+ rims? I just dont know what to do. Surely theres been others in this situation and what have they done. Thanks

ls6 intake and some black or chrome zr1's 11" wide out back would give you the perfect stance.

If you must, rims and nitrous.

Otherwise, bank.

O yes......I mUst!!

I'd stay away from the SS hood if you already bought stripes. But out of you list I'd go for rims and LS6 intake.

Thats what im thinkn' bad ace rims and ls6 intake for a little performance. Is the intake hard to put on..heard it was easy but havent looked into it in detail

still open to opinions and any other good ideas.

I would get some rims and the intake. The LS6 intake is pretty easy install. Your arms are gonna look like you got in a fight with a cactus:D

You could buy a ls6 and cam, pushrods, springs and gaskets for under 1k. Thats a bare bones cam swap. If you wanted a new timing set, ported oil pump, lifters, it would set you over 1k and you would still need a new tune. So I would say go Ls6 intake, FTRA, and a tune. You would still need a retune when you get a cam, but many shops do not charge alot to update tunes. This will give you good bang for the buck, because the tune will allow you to gain hp from the tune and also more hp out of you mods giving you the most for your money.

I say a new hood, it would be a great appearance mod :thumb:

It would be hard to get all that under a grand. Very hard...

I think some sponsors are running a F.A.S.T 90/90 combo for close to a grand right now deffinately worth the money

He will gain more hp with the mods I listed for 1k than with a fast 90/90 with factory H/C.

Do you think I could get a cam and have someone install it for $1000

09CPTN 01-29-2008 09:53 PM

^^^Probably not. Most shops will prolly charge you at least $800 just for the install. It's a lot of labor. You don't hafta drop the motor, but a lot of shops want to. Best bet is to do it yourself with someone who's done it before.

LS6 intake and a tune. A cam will be well over $1000 when you add in the tune and all other supporting parts pushrods, gaskets etc. My cam, cam install with tune was well over 1700 at one of the best priced shops and sponsors here
