Default LS47 information please

I was wondering if you guys could give me some information on the LS47 4.0l V8. I know the Shelby used it in the series 1. I know it is also in the catty's and some olds. I found one and I'm thinking about grabbing it for a swap. Does anyone have a list of oil pans that will work with it? Has anyone ever heard of one in a BMW? How does it compare to the LS1? What do you guys think of the motor in general? Thanks.

What is the LS47? I've never heard of it. LS1/2/3/4/6/7 I've heard of but the LS47?

I can't confirm the moniker, but the engine you're talking about is the 4.0 liter 4v V8 used in the late Oldsmobile Aurora. Apparently, it was a hell of an engine, but it predates the LS1.

If it was the one in the shelby series one... it was some sort of northstar 4v. Not worth the expense and effort, if you ask me. Just grab an LSx and you'llhave a much smaller headache doing the swap, and probably better results.

Wouldnt it have to be the LS747 then? Hopefully it would make more power than a 747

LS37
LS47
LS57
etc..

then you can get into the -200 -300 etc which have more boltons from the factory from GMPP

id think all it would take is a single LS engine to outpower 4 GE CF6's by the time they hit LS47

It is in the Shelby series 1. It is also based off of the Northstarr. I found a great deal on one but I'm worried about oil pans and headers and crap for the swap. Do you guys know anything about it? Anyone ever heard of one in a Bimmer.

Sorry man, guys on this forum mostly know SBC, BBC, modular Ford, and LSx motors. Unless a GM tech wants to check in, you're probably not gonna get much help on a Northstar.
