Another RPO question I've searched on this and asked around and the more I seem to find about the codes the more confused I am. I just picked up a '99 Z28 with zero options. Hardtop, manual windows, manual locks, manual windows, no rear defrost, manual cloth interior, no traction control, no foglights etc. It has AC and the Monsoon CD player but that's it. I ran all of the codes on the door and everything seems spot on, as it doesn't list an RPO for anything power, but my question comes from code 1SD, "option package 04". From what I've read the stripper cars should be 1SC, option package 03, and from what little I've found on here about what 1SD consists of (and finding a thread where someone lists out what comes in it) they're fully loaded (power everything, leather, etc.). I looked at dlove's car last night which came with power and it was a 1SD. Before someone asks, I've checked the VIN on the RPO sticker against the dash and other things and it's the same. Is it not totally uncommon to have a 1SD code on a stripper car or is there a misprint on the sticker or what? Thanks in advance guys. Link to big picture of RPO sticker |
It's not a B4C car is it? FYI: I can't see the RPO codes cause these damn government filters blocked the host site |

Weird:confused: |
Mine is the same, all the same options as you, except I have rear window defrost, but I have the 1SD instead of the 1SC, I was looking into this the other day, but couldn't find anything on it either, I will continue to look and if I find anything I will post it up here |
Thanks man. My friend at the dealership wasn't able to find hardly anything about my car from the VIN (he was going to get me a copy of the original build sheet) but he said it's not totally uncommon for older cars now. Sure doesn't feel old but I guess it's 9 years old already. |
I've tried my local dealership, those guys are idiots, but I will keep trying to find something on the web |
This is what one person on LS1.com has listed for 1SD, but I don't have any of this stuff: 1SD - PREFERRED EQUIPMENT GROUP INCLUDES: * ELEC SPEED CONTROL W/RESUME * REMOTE HATCH RELEASE * FOG LAMPS * POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM * POWER WINDOWS * MIRROR TWIN REMOTE ELECTRIC * LEATHER WRAPPED STEERING WHEEL W/RADIO CONTROLS * REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY * THEFT DETERRENT ALARM SYSTEM * BODYSIDE MOLDINGS * POWER DRIVER SEAT (6 WAY) 1SZ - PREFERRED EQUIPMENT SAVINGS |
Another website says: Optional Equipment Major Packages Retail Price Invoice Price Preferred Equipment Group 1SB Base hatchback $1,170 $1,041 Cruise control, remote hatch release, power mirrors and windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, theft-deterrent system w/alarm, fog lights. Preferred Equipment Group 1SD Z28 hatchback $1,715 $1,526 Pkg. 1SB plus 6-way power driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, rear floormats, bodyside moldings. |
Sorry for so many posts, but once again, on cars.com nonetheless, click the link, then beside the 1SD option list is a little question mark "?" click it and it lists the full package list, but once again, I have none of this. http://www.cars.com/go/crp/research....=&aff=national |
I found a few other places that mention that 1SD is the power options group, but I have power nothing, so I don't have a clue what is wrong or messed up or what. If anyone else finds anything let me know |
Exactly. I found a post (I can try to find it again and quote it if need be) that said it was the standard equipment of 1SB plus (insert everything from a fully loaded car), plus other posts from members saying that their 1SD cars had every option imaginable. I searched 1SD stripper and this was the only thing that came up. :P |

I posted it up on another f-body site and haven't had any replies yet, but it is much smaller than ls1tech so I don't expect many answer until tomorrow. I may try another dealer in a few days to see what they have on it, or may try contacting GM directly somehow. |
Glad to hear I'm not the only one wondering about this. I'd be curious to see how many other "1SD stripper" cars there are out there. |
Anyone? I posted it on a local site too but to no avail. |

What used to happen I believe is that the car started with 1SD but some other RPO's removed features from that marketing package. In your case, AH3, AR9, D35 made some things manual. When a certain group is triggered to change, other parts do as well. There is no clear definition of 1SZ that I can find, this may also play into the specific build. I have access to some good systems and for vehicles this vintage, its hard to find all of the data. |
Awesome man! So is it (I'm guessing) much more uncommon for a 1SD car to end up with zero options than for someone to just order up a 1SC stripper? cochran in this thread is the only other person I've found who has the same thing so far. '99 still seems so *new* to me and you're calling it vintage, hard to believe it's already a 9-year old car. :) |
