I picked up GM p/n 12572717 in hopes to help solve my oil consumption problem. i thought pcv valves have a bearing or something on the inside you can hear when you shake it. With the part number i have there is nothing on the inside of the "valve". its hollow on the inside.... is this normal?

The revised valve has a 3mm orfice rather than the stock 10mm orfice. But it's not really a 'valve' at all, since there's nothing inside. So yes, what you have is normal.
