WTB Power Antenna
$75 is isn't too bad, but thought I could help out someone on the boards.
Thanks
There is also a FREE fix if the mast isn't too bad off and the motor is still working. If the mast is working half-way, you can rub it down with mineral spirits a couple of times and then work the mechanism. (Use the real stuff - not paint thinner.) A common issue with the mast is paint shedding off the metal and gumming up the joints. The mineral spirits will often disolve the goo and will get it working again. (This is a fix listed in the GM factory manual.)
I've found that road salt tends to make the situation worse and I usuually have to do the "free" proceedure every year or so. (less frequently with a new mast) Eventually, the antenna gods will win and I'll have to go for a new mast. Over 10 years, I've had to replace the mast twice, but the motor unit is still going strong.
