Default coolant leak?

okay, i have a 98 camaro SS, and there is a coolant leak from behind the balancer, could it be the water pump gaskets or the water pump, the car turns on, but is very hard to turn and smokes after about 10 minutes, help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sean

If coolant is running down the timing cover to the crank pully if the water pump gaskets. When you say it smokes... do you mean the engine compartment or out of the exhaust?

Yeah it is running down the timing cover behind the crank pulley, it steamed when it had very little coolant/water in it. Can it be driven with the gaskets like this, or is it best to replace it right away?

I would replace them asap. Easy job and the gaskets are cheap from gm. Also good time to change the belt if it needs done.
