Door locks
Door locks I recently installed a new passenger door on my car. hooked everything up using the electronics wired into my car and pulled all the old wiring out of the new door. after i hooked everything up the window rolls up and down but the door lock doesnt seem to work. from either the driver switch or the passenger switch. but the drivers works on the drivers door. any ideas? i see the locking mechanism on the inside of the door but it looks like a tight work space so id like to know what im looking at first before i dig in. thanks!
i first used the old plugs for the door lock and window motor, and when it didnt work for the door lock i cut the two wires and spliced the one on from the door i got and then it still didnt work. did i miss something when installing the door? is there more than a simple plug i needed?

If you used an older door, more than likely the Door position sensor (DPS) is not forward compatible. You can get one at autoshit for like 40 bucks. That was the problem I had - a newer model with an extra plug-in that wasn't on the older door.

the door is from a 96 model. the little plug harness was the only thing plugged in for the locks. the long 2 wires from the loom in the door. come to think i believe i may have had a left over piece found after installing the door and cleaning up that looked like a fairly large white gear piece. i thought it was from my old door though. any other thoughts?

Verdad Gallardo It's the actuator.It has two functions-it locks the door and it is the door switch which tells the body control module if the door is open or not(which controls the courtesy lights and alarm setting!)
i see. well assuming i can find the piece or get the one out of my old door should i be able to just put the gear back together? or do i need a whole new piece now? and if you could point me to a write up or something for it thatd be awesome. thanks alot!
on the other hand the door does lock, and the interior lights dont come on when the door is shut, its just the power switch isnt activating it from either side. could this still be my issue?
