Default Keeping Warm This Winter

I am one of the maniacs that removed the air conditioner, heater, defroster, blower motor, etc. from my daily driven 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS.

My air conditioner did not work for the first three years of ownership and had it professionally serviced two or three times and got it to work for a couple weeks before it would blow warm again. And the system did not leak! Mmm hmm... So I do not miss that whatsoever.

However, the heater always worked and kept me nice and warm in those southern Oklahoma winters. I have now gone two winters without any form of heat and have gotten by for as little driving as I do (one job is two minutes away, the other is five, and most friends live within ten minutes). But, it really would be neat to have a heater this winter.

My first thought was an electric heater of some sort. I have surfed the web looking at several different kinds and brands and it seems, looking through customer reviews, that the ones that are $10-$150 are complete junk. Which is pretty much everything a search turns up for 'electric car heater'. lol

So, I am wondering what ya'll do for heat besides the factory heater. Even some of ya'll that still have factory heat that may have an idea to throw my way. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

lol It has crossed my mind. You know the bendable aluminum pipe type thing that went from exhaust manifold to air breather on carbureted vehicles? I was thinking weld 3-4" long pieces of 3" pipe along the exhaust pipe and point them upwards to the floor of the car and then cut holes in the floor. Heat rises!

why don't you just put the factory heat back in? If it worked real good to start with, why did you remove it? just curious. Isn't Oke one of them real cold states?
