Coolant issues
The only way for coolant to get into your overflow reservoir is from having too much pressure in the radiator. It has to push the cap seal open. Try another cap.
Replacing the radiator cap was a good step. You've checked for visible leaks and found none. Now it's time for the pressure check. Without one, you're just going to be groping around in the dark.
If you don't see any leaks, just beware: If it is a small blown head gasket leak you could be filling a cylinder with coolant as you do the pressure check. If that happens and you don't know it, and you start the engine when you're done, you could permanentely damage your engine. Hydralock. Only way to be sure is to take all 8 spark plugs out when you do the pressure check.
As you cool the pressure rises a little in the coolant system, then it begins to drop off slowly. Maybe it just squirts out when the pressure is climbing after you walk away.

Either way, a pressure test should be able to expose where the exact problem is.
