Gauge Cluster Malfunctions
Hey all,
I'm posting this on behalf of my g/f. (n/m the !g/f in my sig)... this is a new g/f
Okay, so anyways, she has a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo. The gauge cluster is apparently FUBAR, cuz at random intervals, the speedometer needle will either stay stuck at whatever speed you're at, or just slowly fall back down to zero when you're still at speed.
Additionally, the tachometer will show 5,000 RPM, for example, and fluctuate "normally" from 5k to past 7k as if it were reading normal 1k-3k RPM readings.
Other times, the speedo and tach won't work at all, with all the other vitals still operating correctly. Very strange, I know. I'd like to fix this for her myself.
Are we talking sensors here, or just a bad cluster? Any takers?
