idle problem, but only sometimes...
About once a week when I start the car (2002 WS6 T/A) it's as if the car just forgot how to idle, just like after resetting the PCM. I turn the car off then back on 1 or 2 times and then it starts up and runs perfectly fine for the next week or so until it decides to have its next episode. WTF? Most recent mod was a dynotune 6 months ago and the car is driven 30 mi daily.
Please help because this problem is just like a woman's period, and i can't deal with TWO of those things in my life!

when you say "forgot to idle" what exactly is it doing? revving up or idling so low its about to die? my 02 TA did something to this effect a while back...i would start it and it would just be idling fine then rev up to like 2 grand and back down a couple of times.....and sometimes it would surge while driving, almost like it was about to die and then take off for a split second like it was floored!!! fun fun!!! turned out to be the water temp sensor in the head, $15 at autozone!!!! took me awhile to get it pinned down to that, but i swear that was it!!! crazy!!!!

How old is the battery? If it's only on really cold mornings might be low voltage/not enough amps. You could bring it somewhere for a free load test, if nothing else it'll eliminate it as the problem. A bad ECT sensor will usually make the temp gauge act weird or throw a code.

as far as the idle problem itself, it drops down and bounces around 300-500, sometimes actually dying. and the part that really confuses me is that it's usually NOT on a cold start. like if i drive to the store and the car is only off for a few minutes, when i go to restart it is when the problem usually occurs. but then i'll turn it off and back on and it'll be perfect at 750. i'm so confused and frustrated b/c i can't think of anything.
