Default High beam actuator rod

I'm going through a checklist of minor repairs and next on my list are my high beams. The stalk will pull towards me but not click. Pulling off the kick panel, I see that the rod is not pushing the switch far enough to make it click. If I gently pull the stalk forward as far as it will go, I can still easily push the white plastic piece which attached to the rod a few millimeters further to get the switch to click.

So what are my options to getting the rod to extend a bit further? Is it easy to slide the white piece of plastic down the rod a bit? It doesn't appear I have any more space to pull the stalk towards me before hitting the cover.

Thanks!

Can you unscrew the High Beam Switch and move it closer to the end of the Rod?

The Switch could be possible worn out as well..

I couldn't really tell how the switch was mounted. I didn't appear to be mounted in the same fashion as the cruise control switch, which I've already adjusted today.
