The tensioner is the black wheel with the belt around it. Mine is not stock, its Katech. Yours, if stock, will be silver in color and be spring actuated. The t-stat housing is the shiny bubble looking thing with the radiator hose attached directly under the tensioner.

This picture here shows both bolts. They are 10mm. And STOP with the damn torque wrench. You don't need it. Just snug them down nicely. Its not a critical part like torquing down the crank shaft bolts. Don't go incredible hulk tight, but tight.

Just make sure when you pull the housing away to not lose the o-ring or damage it. Its pretty tough, just be aware. You'll see exactly how to put it back on.

Also, to get the old t-stat out you have to push down on those tabs and twist it, then it will come out. You'll see what I mean. Its kind of spring loaded in place.

No. Just let the coolant leak out when you pull the housing off, it won't be that much. Then top off the coolant when your done.

BUT.....start the engine with the radiator cap off. Top off the coolant, then wait for it to warm up and you see the coolant start to flow inside the radiator looking in through the fill cap. About 10-12 minutes. Top it off, then put the radiator cap back on. That will get the air out of the system. Just top it off with hose water and you'll be fine.

Hose water! Are you in the South? 3 weeks ago in Chicago it hit -22 F in my town. LS1's deserve at least 50/50 every time here.
Current temp is 3 F with a predicted high of 9 F today. Burrr

You only lose a little bit of coolant whe nyou take the housing off, filling it back with water wouldn't make a big enough difference to the mixture. BUt yes, topping it off with Dexcool would be better.

And yes......I'm in sunny Miami. Got my shorts and t-shirt on. Just saw a 5 foot Iguana walk through my back yard whe nI went outside to cover up the grill from last night, pretty cool. Should have taken a friggin picture.

I've seen many smaller Iguanas over the years, like 2-3 feet, this was HUGE. They're all still scared to death of people. One step towards them and they haul ***. This things head stood about 10 inches high. I guess they really can't hurt you as in a bite, right? But I guess they can give you a good tail whip.
