check your center brake light and make sure its working........I think there is a ground on the the inner frame rail located under the fuse boxes kind of by the alternator you have traction control?

the center brake light was the problem with mine, people tend to forget about it when they are both burnt out.

im just about positive that the center brake light works, especially since i got pulled over a few days ago and im pretty sure the cop would have definitely mentioned that. The car has no tcs from factory. Cruise hasn't worked since i got the car, and i know for a fact that the brake light worked that whole time. Any other things ?

check the cutoff switches on your pedals, they might be in constant contact and need adjusting. If the previous owner swapped transmissions and the PCM he might not have gotten the cruise control to work. If that's the case you'll have to do some digging and probably wiring.

transmission is factory, but i'll definitely check the pedals. Where exactly are the cut off switches located on the pedals?

they're white and behind the pedals but connected to them. there's one on your brake but it's actually two, one is your brake light swithc the other cruise. if you have a stick there's on on there too that looks similar to the on eon the brake

I was just looking at this on my other car (Escort) today. It also has two switches: one for the brake lights and one which, as far as I can tell, is just for the cruise control. I was looking at it because I want to add the cancel feature to my cruise control, and I plan to do it by adding a momentary switch inline with the switch on the brake pedal. I also plan on doing this in my Formula, assuming it is setup the same way, which it is if the description above is correct.

On my Escort the CC switch on the brake pedal is normally closed (on) and is open (off) when the pedal is depressed. Grab a multimeter and check the switch, I would bet that is your problem.

so i checked under the brake and clutch pedal and couldn't see any switches? Can somebody maybe post pictures so i know what im lookin for? that would be great.

also, when i flick the little switch thing(which i assume is for cc since writing is rubbed off) shouldn't cruise light up on the dash or something to indicate its ready?

I'm gonna check out this thread since my CC doesn't work either. It's a TCS car, and has never worked since I had the car. My 3rd brake light works, and I haven't gotten around to checking my brake switch yet, but I'll get to it.

As far as where it is, they are there. They are probably waayyy up to the top of the pedal, near the pivot, but they are there.

Right. The switches for the brake lights and cruise control will be up at the top of the arm that the brake pedal is on, near where it pivots, not under the brake pedal itself.

As for a light on the dash when cruise is engaged, some cars have one, some don't. Neither of mine does, and I doubt newer F bodies do either.

It will more then likely be one of the cut off switches like the other people stated. You have one on the brake pedal and one on the clutch pedal. Just follow each pedal up and it will be right above where your shin is when you have your food on either pedal. The clip on mine was broken the other year and I easily fixed it using a zip tie to hold it on the bracket.

Try using the cruise control with your turn signals on. Try in both positions. I think I have a short in my steering column; whenever I turn on my right turn signal, my cruise control turns off. I have to set the turn signal lever just right for it to work.

Here's a couple of pics of the switches for reference. They are above the kick panel. Does anyone happen to know which does what?

Hopefully not, but maybe the module itself is bad since you said that ever since you bought it it hasnt worked, possibly the person before went through puddles hard, after all it does sit on the driver front under the frame, IDK. I would suggest going through what everyone else says before listening to me. They arent that much, when I bought mine, I didnt have one, bought one used and it worked fine. Hope this helps!

When mine stopped working it was the clutch cut-off switch.
