help locating source of water leak from hatch my 01 trans am leaks water on the right side of the hatch where the lift strut attaches to the hatch. i opened the hatch tonight after the car has been sitting for two weeks and water leaked out like normal and ran in the right speaker grill. anyone ever have this problem or know a fix?
The problem when opening the hatch is a function of water pooling on the hatch itself and then running backwards through the gutters. The fix is to open the hatch more slowly and give the water time to run out of the gutters. (Then you won't get the excessive flow that causes water overtop the gutter and flow inside the car.)
If you keep your eye on the water flowing from the base of the hatch back up the glass as you open the door, you'll see the issue/flood. You just have to go slow.
