Default Upper & Lower Radiator Hose Failures

In the past week, both my upper radiator hose (Thursday) and my lower radiator hose (tonight) popped off the radiator, dumping all the coolant into the engine bay. This isn't the first time it's happened, and the clamps looked good and tight.

When I first got the car, one of the little caps at the bottom of the radiator was leaking, had that repaired, and the hose issue came after that.

I'm taking it to the mechanic tomorrow, anyways, but any ideas what might be causing the hoses to come off?

Thanks.

if you're using those tension clamps instead of regular old clamps you tighten with a screwdriver that might be part of it

The upper hose is using the clamp with the screw, and the lower is the tension clamp. Doesn't seem to make a difference, unfortunately.

Have you been running hotter than normal?

I can;t see how a screw type clamp can possibly come off if tightened enough. You should lose pressure through the radiator cap first.

T-stat looks ok. Temp is around 180 on the highway, up to 210 when idling before the fans kick in. Doesn't go above 210. Those hoses have popped off only when idling, however. Maybe once while driving.

This is a 98 TA, btw, so the gauge should be relatively accurate.
