A/C help
A/C help Car is an 01 z28 m6 with about 50k miles on it. Lately my A/C has not been working properly. When i turn the car on and it is idling/at stand still the a/c blows hot. However, as soon as i get up to about 50mph it blows pretty cold. Im hoping it just needs a little freon. anyone has an suggestions? thanks.

Also check to see if the fan is running. If not fan is running when the A/C is on, the condensor will overheat in no time flat if there is no airflow through it (like when you are stationary).

Fan is definitely running, condensor feels pretty cold, but no as cold as it should be. is there anyway to tell if im low on freon?

If you want to check it yourself just pick up a recharge kit that includes a gauge. It'll only connect to the "low" side and you'll be able to read the static pressure, and then see if it's within limits when the compressor cycles on. The condenser is in front of the radiator, you want to be sure the outside fans are coming on - not to be confused the the blower motor fan inside the car near the evaporator.
