Default P0430 code :(

I was cruising around late last night and my car threw a CEL, checked it out and it came up as the cat on bank 2 is 'low-efficiency.' My car only has 61k on it, so I can't imagine my cats crapped out. How could I isolate the problem? Any help is so greatly appreciated since I really can't afford to take it anywhere ATM.

the day after I bought my 02 Z28 with 64,000 miles on it I had the same code come on. What year is your car? It sure is possible that its a bad Cat.

It's a 2000. I read somewhere there is a recall on 00-02's or something like that for the cats. Since I removed my EGR and AIR though, the dealerships around here will blame that... Where/how much could I get an OEM cat for?

I have a 2000 ta and had the same code last week. Took it to the local Pontiac dealer. They pulled the vin said it had a 8yr warranty and mine wasn't covered. I got online and got the 10yr/120k code and they pulled it up. Only one cat was throwing the code, but they went ahead and replaced both of them. My car has 97000 miles on it.

The total price was $1022. Of course since it was under the warranty it was free.

Very cool. Do you think my removal of the AIR or EGR would cause trouble. That is probably my main concern. Also, where could I find this 10yr/120k code in case I run into trouble?

service bulletin 05513. I doubt they even notice the AIR/EGR removal, if it's been deleted from the computer.
