power steering fliud

power steering fliud I have a small leak that I need to get fixed. Right now I need to add some fliud. Is all power steering fluid the same? My book quoted a GM part number but all Orielly's had was Oreilly's brand and Gunk brand fluid. I bought the Gunk brand but didnt add it yet. It is ok or should I go to the dealer and get the exact part number?

Re: power steering fliud The Valvoline Synpower-Power Steering Fluid meets the GM specs listed in my manual. They even have the GM part number on the bottle (GM 1050017). The bottle 'claims' that it has PS Conditioner and Stop Leak allready in it...
I like the stuff because it is clear and it is very easy to tell when the stuff gets nasty. Since I have been using it I have not noticed any unusual noise or leaks. Seems to be working O.K. for me... Try Autozone or Advance for it.
I use their Brake Fluid as well with great results. It is also clear as water. It is kind of cool being able to just look at the Brake fluid res. to see if the stuff is getting trashed or contaminated.
