Default Coolant problem/leak... can't find it...

When I am driving, once my engine warms up, i start to smell coolant... i can smell it from in the car... there are no visible leaks under the car, there are no visible leaks in the passenger floorboard (where i was told it would leak if it were the heatercore)... i stop, pull over, pop the hood, and look & sniff and cannot find the leak... i do not SEE anything at all.... i smell it without turning on the heat/air... even w/ the windows up... could it be a hole in my radiator? i've replaced the water pump & gaskets already... and i've flushed and refilled the coolant...

HELP!

There are seals in the rear portion of the water pump that go bad and eventually cause these symptoms. You may find a small puddle forming on the K-member that won't drip down to the ground but I'd bet this is happening to you. FWIW, mine does it, too.

I'm new to LS1's, but those symptoms in my SuperCoupe and I'd think I needed head-gaskets again. Do the LS1's blow hg's at all anybody know? I hope you just have a leak you can't find. Good luck, and don't even think of putting any of that radiator stop leak stuff in your radiator!!!

The easiest way is to get a coolant pressure checker.Just heat up the engine and pressurize it,then look for leaks.

This happened to me, It wound-up being a small crack in my head gasket. All I could do is smell coolant for about a week, then I noticed that I needed to add coolant about once every 4 days, at this point i still couldn't see white smoke or any leaks, at the snd of it all I finally got it to Eastside and found that one of my head gaskets was leaking into a combustion chamber. One of my pistons were steam cleaned due to the coolant in that chamber. All and all it wasen't so bad,it gave me an excuse to install newer and better gaskets.
