Service Vehicle - ABS INOP - what did I fry? Hey guys, let me start by saying the problem originated from a jumpstart gone wrong. The cables were crossed from the factory so red to red black to black actually equaled crossed wires. I did not realize this until I saw smoke rising from each terminal and the cheap wires themselves actually melting. Now, onto the problem. Upon starting the car later from the use of a tender, the APS INOP, Service Vehicle, and even the Brake light are now always on. I've started and drove the car several times since then, and the same 3 lights are lit. The main problem I have noticed is that the car does not hold idle well, and upon coming to a stop it will try and idle at 300 or so rpms but not actually die. Other times it just holds a rough low idle, around 700 or so. Only codes I am throwing are for a knock sensor and cylinder 7 misfire that I was diagnosing before this happened. Did I fry my BCM? What happened here guys, any insight is appreciated. |
Check your third brake light first and make sure all the bulbs are working. If one is out it will cause the abs inop and possibly the brake light to come on. |
What about the service vehicle light? |
I'm having a *similar* problem... https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...s-asr-etc.html that may give you a little insight, although nobody has replied yet. |
I noticed your thread earlier, I am really suspecting the BCM. I am sort of at a loss here.. |
did you check the codes? its might just be one thing that is making all the other problems. |
Only codes i am throwing are for knock sensor and Cylinder 7 misfire. Any ideas anyone? |
same problem here , i have the service vehicle light on !! |
I figured out my problem... it was the ECU. it was corroded and a pin was snapped off... something to check at least. |
hmm. I had the same symptoms and lights when my battery was on its last legs. Changed battery and solved that problem. |
could be a snapped pigtail |
i solved my problem with changing the alternator |
