p.s. it is normal to yell, scream, cus, and throw tools during a spark plug change on a camaro/trans am, so try to be far away from friends, family, and small children during this process. lol
good luck

Just pull it straight off. Sometimes there's so little room in there you can't get a firm enough grip with your fingers on the boot to pull it off. Its just part of this shitty design for an engine compartment. Sometimes you just have to pull it at the wire, but it could break and you'll have to buy a new wire set for $36.00. If the clip stays on the spark plug, you can still get the socket on it to get it out, just in case your's does brwak while trying to yank that sumbitch off.

Absolutely, 100%...zero change in the way the engine performs throughout the rpm range.
Gaps don't matter until you start getting into big horsepower, nitrous or forced indusction.
But I think GM changed the original gaps for stock engines from .060 to .055.
So I went somewhere inbetween and went with .052. Same ****, its all the same.
.060 was the original spec for our cars(platinum)
if you are going to change your stockers they are now iridium which calls for a .040 spec. ill look for the bulletin #

Information on New Spark Plugs and Gapping

Attention: Please disregard the Set Gap Per Vehicle Specification statement on the side of an ACOelco(R) Iridium Spark Plug Box. The statement will be removed from the boxes in the future.

This bulletin is being revised to add the Chevrolet SSR and the 2005 Pontiac GTO. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-06-04-060A (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).
^ A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design the gap of the spark plug has also changed.
^ The new spark plug P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985 is gapped to 1.01 mm (0.040 in) when the spark plug is made.
Notice: The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.
I also use a Craftsman spark plug socket without the rachet on # 8. The socket has a 3/4" head you can get a wrench on to make small little turns to aid in final tightening of that hard to reach bastard...

.040 is too small for an LS1, any LS1.
.050 - .055 is best
