Stupid Overheating problem, op needed
Car keeps overheating. Make a pass, its 167 @ the line, still cool down the track, then overheats on the return road. New water pump, no thermostat, fans run, new radiator. Fills up the puke tank and overflows. I have an aftermarket vented tank for coolant. if you pull the radiator cap and start the car it surges coolant, meaning it overflows out the top, drops down, then overflows some more. I've been thinking headgasket, BUT it shows no sign of a blown headgasket. No oil in water, no water in oil, no leaks, runs fine.Any ideas. I'm getting mad
There doesn't have to be oil in water or water in oil. What you COULD have is cylinder pressure getting pushed into the coolant system, thats why it would boil over or push coolant out into the over flow reservoir.
If you don;t have a blown head gasket you would be able to take the radiator cap off, start the engine, let it warm up to operating temp....watch it start to flow when the t-stat opens and none will surge out of the radiator fill hole. It could rise slowly and slowly pour a little bit out, but no surging. At least mine never does that.
Leakdown check.
I got a question, was the system totally bled after all the upgrades?
Any air pockets will cause great pressure to be where its not wanted.
Just a thought.

When In Doubt Do Without
A leakdown - or test kit for hydrocarbons will tell you if you have a compression head gasket leak into the cooling system. If so Caddy pills are the cheapest solution.
Don't have an ATI procharger on your car? They for sure cause overheating. I know - I have one.
And you didn't remove the air-dam causing overheating at slow speeds.
And why no thermostat?
