oops... fuel gauge

oops...help ok so i was driving around 2 days ago and the little "check gauges" light comes on beecause i wass low on fuel. i fill up, erased my trip meter (always do), and i was on my way. after driving around a while today, i notied that my fuel gauge isnt moving! what could this be all my other gauges work?! im taking a shot in the dark here and guessing its the sender, how hard of a fix is this? is there anything else that it could be (fuse or something)? help!!!
ps ...maybe im just getting about 80 mpg now

haha ... welcome to the club!!! mine stopped working for over six months then all of a sudden it started working by it's self, lasted another six months and now it started doing it again(not working) 
once it starts working again I'm not taking it below half a tank
P.S...if you want to fix it you have to drop the rearend
or cut through the inside

The float may be stuck. You could try driving over a set of smooth (small bumps) rail road tracks to free it. I'm guessing that it is hung up in the tank since it stopped after running low. It's a guess, but it is worth a shot.

EDIT: just tried it, didint work. i guess i need a new sending unit, how much do they cost?
