coolant senser problem

Default coolant senser problem

I having trouble i have a 1995 Z28 camaro and the low coolant light is always on i cannot figure it out i'm thinking there is something wrong with the senser the coolant is at the proper level its not making sense. i've checked the ground wire for insulation missing grounding it but that wouldn't do anything i'm thinking its the senser need some help please.

from what I've read about that sensor is that it maybe dirty and the problem can be fixed by draining the coolant and removing the sensor and cleaning it.

You can try cleaning it, but that rarely works. They just go bad. Just pull the thing off and the coolant will drain by itself down to that level. Put the new one on and top it back off.

Or unplug that sensor and the light will stay off, if you don't want to replace it.

I tried to clean the sensor without any luck. Some weeks ago i replaced it-problem solved.

You do need the sensor - replace it. If your coolant level drops and you don't know it, you can get localized hot spots and soften the block/heads. This would be a bad thing.
