Default Floating aluminum bits (water pump replacement)

I replaced my water pump and am at the end of flushing the system, I notice bits of floating aluminum in the coolant system. I am hoping it's just casting from the new pump but am a little worried about them.

Any body else get this with a water pump change?

It's an 02 TA, 41k miles and the pump is an autozone jobbie.

Uh...no. New water pumps don't shed metal like that.

I'd flush you system again. If that stuff comes back after the flush I'd consider taking that thing off.

But if you flush it, do it without the t-stat in there and take the entire petcock valve off, so it flushes every drop of the old stuff out.
