Hi All,

I have an LT4 car that had a dead battery. After charging the bettery over night the car still will not start. The starter is making noise I have never heard before. It sounds like the starter is enguaging and disenguaging from the flywheel. It is almost like the clicking sound you get when the bettery is low but much louder. The rest of the car comes up fine. Is it possible the batter can not supplu enough amperage? Anyone else experience this?

 

I'd pull it and have it tested. Also make sure the wiring to it is ok.

 

you may have ripped some teeth off the flywheel causing the loud tapping sound when the starter tries to turn the motor over, but i doubt it. Take the starter out and have it tested. IF that is fine, check to make sure its getting juice properly. If its getting juice, turn the motor over by hand with the starter off and check the teeth on the flywheel.

 

Thanks for the advice. I am starting with the battery. The car had only done this once. I did not persist because I was afraid to damage the flywheel. Starter will be next. I will keep you posted.
