battery plate question The battery plate on my 98 LS1 TA is broken and was offered the battery plate from a 95 LT1 TA so would it fit on mine?

Are you talking about the plastic tray that holds the battery? Did the long "hook" that holds the lower edge of the battery brake? (This is common.) If so, the tray is molded in to the top of the coolant tank. (I doubt a switch will work.)
They are really inexpensive from GM parts direct and take just a couple of minutes to switch out.
