Hesitation, stalling, SES light.....

Hesitation, stalling, SES light..... I installed LTs a couple weeks ago. Car seems to be running fine, though had a cat inefficiency code last week (no surprise, the ones supplied with the y-pipe are practically empty tubes).
Had the codes deleted, but 2 days later, the engine light is on again. Was out for a drive yesterday (fortunately not far from home) and sitting at a stop light, the car started doing some odd idling. Would randomly go up to around 1000 rpm, then drop down, and down to 500 rpm or so, then back up to 750.
When starting to move, the rpms would drop to almost 0, then bounce back up. I would have to rev to about 2000 rpm+ just to get moving and not stall out.
When accelerating at more than nominal throttle pressure, would get a hesitation, then it would go like normal......
Am I looking at something with the ignition? Loose/burned wire? Possibly fuel issue?

The cats on the y-pipe are pretty much for show, as they are "high flow" and don't stop much.
It turned out the issue was the thread sleeve in the intake for the EGR tube was loose, so the egr pipe had popped out and air was getting in, causing a lean condition. Mechanic used epoxy on the sleeve, so hopefully it'll hold. If not, guess a FAST LSX intake is in my future.
