Default Can drivers window come out with track on

The roller for the rear guide broke off of the window channel. Can i get this out to weld it or do i have to drill it off the window first. I searched and was surprised i couldn't find anything it's making me feel stupid i can't get it out. I've fixed this before on my sons Firebird but his door was split so came out easy. don't won't to split mine or break window, both seem possible. Any help would be appreciated.

had the exact same problem... tried to weld but it melted the roller. I ended up drilling out the rivets, leaving the regulator in the door, removing the glass and purchased the piece the rivets to the window. The cost was around 80 bucks with the rivets. Also the rivets for the regulator are different from the window. you will need 4 regulator rivets and 4 window rivets. Hope you have a monster rivet gun. the one i have was $230... called the big daddy. it is a pain in the *** but if you want it to work you will have to pull it all apart. Couple hours of bs work

never tried bolts, possible. make sure there is enought clearance between the regualter and the gear, you know what i mean. it was that bad of a job, one more thing when you drill the rivets out sometimes part of the rivet sticks in the regulator, i was able to sneak a long pair of needle nose in there and grab them, you may not have the problem but just my advice

#12 is right. be careful drilling on the window, there are little pastic washers behind that piece that require a little finesse to get out. if they are cheap i would grab 3 of them. check the dealer, it was in stock locally here.

No, bolts will brake the glass when you tighten them. Rivets are designed so the metal is just soft enough it won't overstress the glass.

Some folks have done a weld with the glass in, but you run the risk of heat shocking the glass. BTW - The roller just pops off the metal pin its on. There is a metal ball on the end of the pin and the roller has a round socket in the middle.

For all the tools and rivets you'd need, you may find it's a lot less expensive to have a local auto glass shop re-install the glass once you are done. (They will have all the stuff needed to do the work.)

Very common problem - here's a good thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...w-related.html

no rivets man... welding is a patch and it wont work for long.... pony up and do it right.

rivets are cheap.... im sure if you tried to bolt it up it would hit on the gear plus there is no way to really hold them. you will see when you dive in to this job.

Really just trying to avoid the monster rivet gun purchase. I might go with the glass shop to do the reinstall. Need to figure out how to get the car there in it's current condition.

You can get good large rivet guns for a reasonable price. Here's one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-EMHART-LARGE...item3ca5eb13c1

Here are some other options that you may find: http://www.emhart.com/products/POP/popset.asp

I have this model at home and have seen it go anywhere from $50 to $200. I purchased it years ago for a door project on another car and use it all the time for non-automotive stuff.

Plus, you get to walk around knowing that you have a LARGE rivet gun. Makes all the other guys jealous standing there with their little dinky ones.
