Exclamation Separating Lower Ball Joint...HELP!

I have a pickle fork and still can't seem to get the spindle off. Do I need to disconnect the spindle from the tie rod? Am I just supposed to hammer it in and it will separate? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have to be making this harder than it should be somehow.

Brandon

^^^^^ wowowowowow 25lb hammer??

OP- make sure the taper side on the pickle fork is pointed down towards the control arm, the only thing i dont like about a pickle fork is it tears the **** out of the rubber boots, i think they also have a balljoint press you can use that will also remove it, and never hit the actual ball joint thread

Thanks for the replies! I got it, went to work with the hammer. Now working on getting it back in. The clamp is getting stupid hard to turn. From what I've read that may not be out of the ordinary.
