Cool Oil Pump Question

I need to change my oil pump, Do I need to takle my oil pan off to get to the bolt that holds the oil pick up tube in the oil pump?
If anyone knows any helpful advice or tricks I will be glad to try those. I have never done this yet on my car and just curious how to get started with it.

you dont need to remove the entire pan, you can just loosen all the oil pan bolts about 1/2 an inch to get to the pickup tube. i jammed a rag into the pan so i didnt drop the bolt into the back of the pan. make sure you dont pinch the new oil pump ring when you put it in.

patience is your best trick with this job.

Lube the "o" ring with motor oil just before you slide the pickup into the pump.

Make damn sure that you are going up even and straight.

I would just drop the whole pan and make sure it is done right the first time. Nothing sucks more then trying to take a short cut and turning it into a nightmare.
