A/C compressor leak at snap ring?

Howdy,
Working on fixing the a/c system on a car (FD RX7 with LS1 swap). There is a small leak, that i tracked down to a snap ring on the bottom of the compressor at the back. What is this part?

Can i pull the snap ring and replace the seal?

Does anyone have any compressor diagrams or info?
