so this is the story of the day, come home from school, no mindy in the driveway, walked inside. fllpped out ask my mom where my car was, my mom gave me some dirty look, and said, "Oh my boss, gave me a great price for it so i let him take it off our hands" sold MY car, MY hard work, without permission.

Wow dude...that sucks!!! I think I would almost kill my parents if they did that to me...wow...just trying to fathum how I would react is too much for me to handle...crying and rage come to mind...good luck with the situation

OP: realize that very few used cars sold are in perfect mechanical condition. There had to be a reason someone wanted to sell that fun machine. $800 to pay someone to do all that work isn't bad especially if they're putting on a quality tire. The factory tires for my SS are well north of $250.
Ask why the gas tank needs to be replaced. I understand that you need to lower it to change the sending unit, but do you need a new tank?
The "hydraulic clips" for the trunk are as easy to replace as windshield wipers. Go to Autozone or Napa and price out the parts to do that yourself.
What gives with the starter? You didn't mention that earlier. If you truly need one, that's annother job that can make you feel more comfortable with tools. Find a buddy that has changed one. The starter set-up on our cars is very simmilar to the good majority of cars and trucks on the road. Basically if you've done one, youve done nearly all of 'em.
Good luck with the LT-1. I had an LT-1 Formula. It was an absolute blast to drive, but the repairs and maintenance wore on me. Learning how to work on this car will set you free from mechanics for the rest of your life.

since im not 18, it was in my moms name.
yea my mom messed up by not even telling me she was gonna sell it but to me the only truely sad part was.. i didnt get to say goodbye ha i know its just a car but i loved that thing, for the less than 2 month time period i had it..
I just gotta learn from this and do what MJK said buy a maitenance book look over everything, study up, gain alot more experience working on cars then later step up to an ls1 next time, even though im about to be in college and be broke again.

I probably would have moved out of the house and never speak to my parents again if they did that to me. especially after everything ive been through with my car. and they better damn well give you the money for it if you payed for it in the first place.
Cars are bound to have problems, wheather something real simple like a bulb, to blown engines. especially buying used, because sometimes we just dont know EVERYTHING about the car. Some advice, whatever is the problem, the internet is your friend, find out if its a common issue, find out if theres a simple fix. Get advice from other members, and best of all, if you want it done right... cheap in terms of price... whenever you can, do it yourself! with that being said, i feel your pain, especially since you just bought it. Dont worry, you'll have that thing running in no time! GL!

nope i havent seen a dime of the money.. took me way too long to be able to afford insurance and the cost of the car.
