So I completely took the antenna motor off its mount and dropped the remaining 6 inches of broken antenna down through the hole till it was even with the quarter panel. So basically the broken off top of the antenna was flush with the hole. I drove from Lauderdale to West Palm Beach and all through both cities. The reception is 100% perfect still. No change.

So I just need to find a way to cap the antenna hole off that looks good, no need for an antenna any more.

Yeah I did see that, thanks for reminding me. I might try your 'mod anyway, just because the loss in AM reception would be worth the clean look on the car. Also, being in California I don't think that buildings and bridges are as much of a concern...
