Radiator leak

I have a 96 civic for my beater car. The top of the radiator cracked and its also leaking where the big hose is at the bottom. Im gonna replace the radiator but I was wondering if anyone knows if a bad tstat could cause the radiator to crack?

It probably was coincidental. Assuming that it's a plastic/aluminum radiator, they don't need any help in cracking.

i replaced the tstat anyway. all is good for now but the drain plug on the new radiator sucks! i barely tightened it and it was leaking. I backed it out 1/4 turn and it stoped. But its kind loose. Anyway i have a new radiator and tstat.

... your radiator is probably toast, hondas are bad about the tanks leaking... i would replace your thermostat regardless just because it's cheap and you're pretty much already there when replacing the radiator... if your hoses are questionable do those as well... no sense in doing the work twice
