Default Coolant Capacity

I just flushed my coolant, because it was low, and f*cking Midas didn't know if they put dexcool or regular coolant in...

So, I look in my repair manual and it says 11.6 quarts is the capacity of coolant systems in 2000 and later w/ manual tranny.

Well, I only got in 1 gallon and a little bit of a 2nd gallon before the radiator stopped accepting more. I let the car idle for quite a bit, both the upper and lower hoses were hot so the coolant was flowing properly. I checked the measuring stick on the overflow, and no coolant was showing on it.

Whats the deal? Do I need to just put rest of it in the overflow since the radiator isn't sucking more down?

Just in case I don't get a reply to fast, car is cooling down right now, so I can go check the fluid when its cold on the overflow stick.

You still have whatever is left in the block, that's why it wouldn't take it all.

That's interesting... But shouldn't I still be able to read FULL COLD on my reservoir stick?
Or even HOT FULL after the car is up to temp?

Did you specifically flush the hose going to the reservoir? It may be full of gunk.

No, I didn't. Will I leak a bunch of coolant if I pull that reservoir out and do my best to clean it out with the hose?

You'll leak whatever is in the reservoir, and in the hose to the radiator, and then the radiator until the level is down to the bottom edge of the hose connector.
