Default engine problem helppppp

ok started up my 67 camaro with 5.3 and at first it idles highabout 3k then goes down to like 500 so i shut it off. tried again and it idled to about 3k then went steady at around 900 kinda choppy. i figure most of all that is caused by not doing a idle learn. but my real problem is when i hit the gas it cuts out and wants to die until i let off then it goes back to idling. anyone knoow y? im going to get a scanner today any suggestions?

On cold start-up the MAF controls things, definitely get some MAF cleaner and hammer it good. Also spray the IAT sensor while your at it.

Other possibility is a failing IAC valve.

Or a vacuum leak. You should hear that under the hood sucking in air, if not its probably not the issue.

If its still a cold engine and the MAF is dirty it could. If its doing that after the engine is up to operating temp it could be failing 02 sensor(s). And you won't usually get an SES light when they are just failing.
