a different rear hatch question

a different rear hatch question my push button hatch release and my remote release quit working right after I had an a4 to m6 swap done. I don't know if this is a coincidence or if there is another reason. any info on how to check if before I buy a new one(incase it still wouldn't work) I would really appreciate

Check to see if you have power going to it and do a bunch of basic troubleshooting before you waste money by shotgunning parts at the car. You'll waste lots of cash by doing that. Ask questions here first.

I took the car to a shop and had the swap done. I checked for power at the switch and it had nothing. I'm not good at wiring so I figured I would ask what to check for before I started tearing stuff apart. I will check to see if they hooked up the wires as shown in the link. thanks for the help.
