HUGE backfire...

I was pulling away from a light just cruising got it up to 2800-3k rpm and hear a little crackling when i let up to shift which is expected,then BOOM! It sounded like someone put a couple m-80's in my tail pipes! I mean this was like no backfire ive ever heard. I hurry up to pull over and my steering is unresponsive like i have no power steering, with a quick tug on the wheel it came back. I took a look over everything and it seems fine other than a couple dirty looks from some people

. But on the way back home it did seem like i lost a little power. What would cause this huge backfire?and is the power steering thing just a coincidence??? there totally unrelated

A backfire out the exhaust like this is usually caused by unburnt fuel. Time to start troubleshooting.

guess i should change the other 4 plugs,didnt do it the first time cuz it looked like a bitch to do.

yes i would start with plugs then go from there.. how does the motor run?

i actually just got it running again a week or two ago after sitting for months, it wouldn't run right until i sprayed the crap out of my MAF(which i now have a code for) but its running pretty straight now.
