Default Security light please help!
hello folks. I'm not sure why my security light has come on, but it comes on every single time without fail when i start my car and stays on while i'm driving until i turn the car off. any ideas?

What car you got - is it the VATS / Pass-Key II system where there is a resistor built in to your key? If so, it may well be the same issue that I'm having and have just posted about. Likely to be a wiring fault in the anti-theft system.

WTF, I went to start my car on lunch today.... no start, key turns and all accessory lights come on, wont even start to crank. Tried my spare key, nothing. Gonna go try a couple things when i get out... but it seems like the VATS. ****.

my light comes on sometimes and wont start but if i mess with my unlock/lock key a few times or wait a few minutes it starts so idk

Man, i just trailered the car home from work after not being able to get it started and going to try to bypass the VATS system tomorrow. Will let you know how it turns out.

Just as i though, bypassing the VATS system got the car running again. My suggestion to anyone who even has the slightest hunch that their VATS system is going haywire, deal with it now before you are left stranded.

just bypass it with a resistor.done it on my m6.still waiting for it to act up on my 35th and bypass it.

mine came on today i drove for a bit stopped at a store when i got in and started it the security light came on? how do you bypass it, i have hptuners i saw that i can turn it off from it? would that fix it?

my ignition switch would not read the key chip.......left me stranded..........500$ to the dealer later..........all good

Ouch!! ..$500? .... That's exactly why I just bypassed the damn thing. I think I spent maybe $30 on materials. Maybe $50.
