Key Stuck help

Key Stuck help Here is the problem i am having.
The car drives fine, I put the car in park and let go of the brake and the car is in park, then I turn my car off and my key won't go into lock, to pull out so it stays stuck. I have to play with it and force it out, and when i put it back in i have to mess with it to turn the key, but when it finally gives the car turns on fine and runs perfect. Also when i finally get the key out by forcing it to turn all the way and pulling the shifter still moves freely up and down instead of locking like before.
what gives?
