Question Deceleration ticking on '01 Firehawk

Just wondering why after doing a wot or near wot run I hear ticking coming from the engine bay when I start to decelerate? It's only there when I let off the throttle for a split second and then clears up immediately. Could this be injectors adjusting or some such thing?

U joint? I really don't see how. It's coming from the engine bay, like as in "the engine". Thanks though.

No suggestions from anyone else? Like stated, it's just a rapid clicking noise coming from the engine on upon deceleration (especially after wot). It lasts for about 1 or 1.5 seconds and then stops right before the rpms beging to drop again. Just wanted to make sure its just something like injectors. I've done a search on clicking and well, just do one and you'll see how helpful it is There are THOUSANDS of threads it seems and finding one that matches my ride's symptoms is difficult and time consuming. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Engine. But that was just a joke. I don't really know what the problem but It is prolly just one of your muffler's brackets are loose. Does it sound like flapping.

Oh you son of a gun! You had me all worked up for nothing there lol. I was just about to go bitch at someone Ummmm as far as brackets for mufflers, wouldn't that be in the back? This is in the front, and it's just sounds like a tapping/clicking. Scenario- I do a wot run, at around 75mph I let off the throttle, as soon as I do I begin to hear a rapid clicking sound from the engine bay which goes away almost immediately after it begins. So I just thought maybe it was the injectors adjusting or something from the sudden decrease in throttle input? I just want to make sure. Sounds like everyone keeps thinking its anything other than my engine, not that I'd complain if it was lol. Thanks for clearing that up, I was actually about to bring it in to the shop after what you said.

Has the car been tuned? Could be knocking right after the hard run.

Its tough to say though...any chance you have HP tuners or something to monitor knock and other engine conditions?

I do have the slp diablo i could use. It has a modified slp canned tune. Maybe I should go back to stock tune and see if it clears it up? Oh yeah, thanks for that ipod info again man, it was in fact what was killing my battery Took me over a year to figure it out!

lol, It prolly could be it needs to be tuned. But if it only does that while you are letting off the gas then It has to be something with the exhaust or headers. How high in RPM will it be in when you let of the gas and it does that?

I'll guess and say 4500 to 5500 rpm? I'm running an slp performance tune with some custom settings like ltfts etc.

It sort of sounds like a fluttering or clicking.

Aight well tell me what happens tho.... But if its at 5000 rpm than its something from headers down to your mufflers. Z06 Had the same problems. I put it on a rack and the mufflers needed to be tightened and rewelded.

I went back to the stock tune and it seemed to not be as extreme, however it didn't last long because the stock tune feels like crap with no power. So I'm going to try and do some data logging. Thanks.

Nothing beats a real dyno tune! It's worht the money...even if the car is close to stock or bolt-on.

But yes, also check out the headers and full exhaust for any leaks and suck.

And your welcome about the I-pod tip! glad it worked out.
