Default Spark knock, pre ignition or what?

I have a 2000 WS6 with a custom grind cam, hooker headers, granetelli MAF, Meziere electric water pump no cats & Magnaflow cat back. It ran fine for a few years since the major stuff. Lately though I'm getting a rapping or ignition/spark knock on acceleration If I dog it, it's worse. It also seems worse with the AC running. I've read where there's a knock sensor that adjusts the timing that may go bad. It has 72k miles on it and I want to fix this before I try sell it, which is soon. Any ideas on where I should start. No SES or check engine light has come on.
